Collaborative Projects
QUILT OF RESILIENCE 2020/21
This project is our members' response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as being a shared collaborative activity in a time of social distancing when we are unable to meet as a group. The Quilt of 'Resilience' will be made up of postcards to be sewn together by members at a future meeting. The idea of a quilt is that it provides comfort, warmth and protection, all relevant during the social upheaval of the pandemic.
The participants were challenged to use stitching or evidence of stitching on their postcard/s, as the completed quilt will be exhibited at a planned exhibition themed around paper and stitching.
Artists' work featured below: Tricia Smout (QLD), Kathy Carter (NT), Mareene Hutchings (QLD), Ruby Purple (QLD), Lyn Rushby (QLD), Jen Conde (QLD), Ngaire Macleod (QLD), Karin Hannigan (QLD), Jan Pearce (QLD), Glenda Hennig (QLD), Zela Bissett (QLD), Wendy Drake (QLD).
The Quilt of Resilience is being exhibited as part of IAPMA 35th anniversary exhibitions, Origins & Destinations, travelling to Tasmania (Australia) and Shanghai (China) during 2021.

Curated by Joanna Faber.

Postcard Swap 2013
Co-ordinator - Judy Barass
The theme for the swap was 'animal', and this could be interpreted in any way, using any medium on a postcard sized card that was capable of being sent through the mail. The responses included digital print on handmade paper, inkblot animals, collage, traditional printmaking, encaustic, calligraphy and layered paper.
It was great to see so many different approaches to a simple task.

Postcard Exchanges 2011 and 2012
In both 2011 and 2012, POQ members were invited to raid their bits’n’pieces drawers and “can’t bear to throw it away” stashes for Postcard Artwork Exchanges.
The idea was simple – each person makes postcard sized artworks to be exchanged with other members. Each artwork had to incorporate at least 80% paper including handmade paper.
The theme for the 2011 postcards was ‘Obsession’ and 2012 'Opening Doors'. Its really amazing the variety of responses to these themes. I love the textures created even though the artworks are 2-dimensional. Collage, sewing, buttons, fabric – even wax.
Thanks to all who participated and embraced the postcard artworks. A selection of the postcards from the 'Obession' exchange is shown below.
